Da anni il mio desiderio di partecipare al National Wedding Show di Londra , non era mai stato esaudito… Vuoi per essermi mossa in ritardo e vuoi per matrimoni di fine settembre, ma alla fine non ero mai riuscita ad organizzarmi!
Quest’anno finalmente, biglietti e hotel presi a luglio ad un prezzo decisamente umano e libera da impegni lavorativi a Napoli, sono riuscita a varcare la soglia dell’Earls Court Exhibition Centre! E non sapete la mia gioia!!!
Innanzi tutto, per essere ancora un volta a Londra, mia città del cuore e d’adozione, dove sogno di trasferirmi a vivere, e dove ogni volta che ci metto piede mi sento a casa. In più, la fiera è davvero un’utilissima occasione per aggiornamenti e per imparare sempre cose nuove e per proporre la propria attività anche al di fuori dei nostri confini.
Ho preso online il biglietto VIP, che probabilmente sarebbe servito di più il sabato e la domenica, essendo andata di venerdì, giorno d’apertura non ho trovato un’eccessiva affluenza. Sono andata girando per ben 5 ore analizzando, fotografando e perlustrando a fondo ogni stand e ogni dettaglio.
Stand ordinati, non troppo grandi e molto curati. Molti wedding planner emergenti; molti altri di fioristi con dei bellissimi fiori e decorazioni originali, ma sempre raffinate e mai sgradevoli (tranne per quello che aveva fiori finti e dei tremendi cuori giganti che formavano un arco); moltissimi tipografi, che amo perdutamente e amo ancor di più i loro lavori ma che purtroppo in Italia difficilmente vengono apprezzati.
Non mi hanno particolarmente colpito gli stiliti e i modelli che esponevano… per lo più dozzinali e di tessuti poco pregiati, anche se alcuni molto “sfiziosi”, per dirla alla napoletana! Moltissimi erano ispirati agli anni 50, quindi scolli a barca e gonne a ruota al polpaccio, per una sposa spiritosa e originale…
Al contrario invece ho trovato deliziose alcune decorazioni per i capelli, non le classiche coroncine e i fermagli con Swarovski e pietre luccicanti. Queste erano anche arricchite con delicate perline di fiume microscopiche legate con fil di ferro a creare ramificazioni. Vengono poggiate sulla testa con cerchietti o inserite nelle pettinature con i ferretti. Ne ho viste alcune stupende e comprata una per una sposa! Purtroppo non sono riuscita a fotografare quella che una bellissima ragazza (perchè non ha voluto) stava acquistando e sui suoi capelli era una vera meraviglia!
Nell’area VIP mi hanno offerto un calice di champagne e dato una bag contenente una beauty-box con prodotti di bellezza e gadget, ma in tutta la fiera c’era chi ti consegnava buste piene gadget e cosmetici anche senza avere il biglietto VIP… Quindi se ci andate di Venerdì, direi che potrete risparmiare tranquillamente 35 sterline.
La sfilata è stata divertente, piuttosto lunghetta, ma varia e ben strutturata, grazie alle coreografie che alcune modelle amavano fare alle loro uscite. Però come ho scritto anche su Facebook, non si possono fare paragoni con il made in Italy, sarebbe un’eresia!
A proposito di eresie: una cosa che mi ha fatto ridere come non mai è stato lo stand della “Church Of England”! Un prete ed una novizia promuovevano la Chiesa Anglicana! Ho chiesto un po’ in giro e pare partecipino dal 2003… Dopo aver parlato con loro ho capito in realtà che c’era poco da ridere, e che dimostravano invece una grandissima apertura mentale. Mi spiegavano che, trattandosi di una parte fondamentale del matrimonio, vogliono essere al passo con i tempi avvicinandosi sempre più agli sposi! Forse è poco ortodosso, ma la trovo un’idea geniale, anni luce da noi…
Di idee e contatti ne ho presi a bizzeffe, ma con alcuni di loro ho intrapreso già una fattiva corrispondenza che spero mi porti a “internazionalizzarmi” un po’ di più!

For years, my desire to participate in the National Wedding Show, London, has never been granted to… Sometime for be late, sometime for organize weddings in late September, but in the end I had never managed to organize!
Finally this year, tickets and hotel taken in July well in advance at good price and free from business appointment in Naples, I managed to cross the gate of the Earls Court Exhibition Centre! And you don’t know my joy!!!
Firstly, joy to be again in London, my home town of heart and of adoption, where I dream to move to live, and where everytime I arrive I feel like home. In addition, the fair is really a very useful occasion for updates and to learn more new things and to propose its business beyond our borders.
I got VIP tickets online, which would probably will be better have on Saturday and Sunday, being Friday, opening day, I haven’t found excessive affluence. I went riding around well for 5 hours analyzing, photographing and scouring down every things, stand and every detail.
Ordered stand, not too large and well-kept. Many of emerging wedding planner; many florists with beautiful flowers and original decorations, but always refined and never disagreeable (except for one who had fake flowers and terrible giants hearts that formed an arch); many Stationery stand, that I love and I love even more all their ideas, but that unfortunately in Italy are hardly appreciated.
I don’t have particularly affected the designers and models who exhibited… mostly average and cheap fabrics, although some very “Sfiziosi (tasty)”, as neapolitan could say. Fifty’s inspiration was was everywhere!!!
On the contrary I found delicious some hair decorations, not the classic crowns and clips with Swarovski and brightening stones. These were also enriched with delicate microscopic River pearls.
In the VIP area they offered me a glass of champagne and given a bag containing a beauty-box with beauty products and gadgets, but throughout the fair there was who delivered envelopes filled with gadgets and cosmetics even without having the VIP ticket to … So if you go there on Friday, I’d say you can save £ 35 quietly.
A great funny catwalk, rather longish, but varied and well-structured, with choreography that some models loved making. But as I wrote on Facebook, you can’t make comparisons with the made in Italy, it would be heresy!
About heresies: one thing that made me laugh like never before was the stand of “Church Of England”! A priest and a novice were promoting the Anglican Church! I asked around and apparently they have their stand since 2003. After talking to them I realized that were nothing to laugh about, but they are really open minded. They explained to me that, while an important part of marriage, they want to be updated, being closer to the bride and groom! Maybe it’s unorthodox, but I find that was an ingenious idea, light years away from Roman Church!
I’ve made plenty of ideas and contacts, and with some suppliers I have already embarked on an active correspondence which I hope will lead to make my business a bit more international!
